With school back in session, GRDA is sharing a few lessons of its own, all about its 5E mission.

As the new school semester gets underway, area students are returning to the classroom and once again studying reading, writing and arithmetic, along with history, science and other subjects. With that in mind, the Grand River Dam Authority takes this time to remind you to be safe out on the roadways, watch out for our students and always stop for the buses when the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is out.
Since school is back in session, we also thought it would be a good time to share a few lessons of our own, to help provide a little more education on the GRDA mission. Here are a few of those facts and figures:
- 15: That is the number of Oklahoma communities that receive their wholesale electricity supply from GRDA. Meanwhile, through direct and indirect sales, GRDA electricity actually touches 75 of 77 counties in Oklahoma.
- 10: That is how many of these communities have been purchasing their electricity from GRDA for more than 65 years. Some of these partnerships are even closer to 75 years old.
- 80: That is how many years GRDA has been producing renewable hydroelectricity. It started in 1940 with the completion of Pensacola Dam, but GRDA has also been producing hydroelectricity with Robert S. Kerr Dam for over 50 years too. The same Grand River waters that spin the turbines at Pensacola are reused downstream at Kerr.
- 11: In millions of dollars, that is the approximate amount of money GRDA spends in a single year on government services, related to its lakes and river (lake patrols, water monitoring, ecological operations, economic development, etc.). And it is all done at no cost to Oklahoma taxpayers.
- 5: That is how many “E’s” there are in GRDA’s mission: employees, electricity, economic development, environmental stewardship and efficiency. Every day, Team GRDA is working to make each of these “E’s” a top priority.
