Space heater safety tips

Nov 05, 2020

Space heater safety … As temperatures cool and days get shorter, some of us may be using space heaters more these days. If that is the case for you, here are some important tips to keep in mind.

Power for Progress… a weekly column from the Grand River Dam Authority.

The leaves are beginning to fall, the days are getting shorter and the temperatures are cooling. For many of us, this transition into the fall season also means we will be spending more and more time indoors for the next few months. As we move into this time of year and seek warmth indoors, we should continue to make safety a priority as well. If some of your home’s warmth comes courtesy of an electric space heater, the Grand River Dam Authority wants to pass along the following safety tips to you. They come courtesy of the Electric Safety Foundation International (esfi.org).

These are just a few of the tips you should keep in mind. For more electric safety information, visit esfi.org. Your friends at GRDA want you to stay safe and warm this season.
