GRDA to host separate sessions for public dock/private dock input

Langley – In order to allow adequate time for public comments on the proposed changes related to encapsulated flotation for docks, the Grand River Dam Authority is announcing two separate comment periods during the public meeting scheduled for Monday, December 17.

As announced last week, the first meeting will begin at 11AM in the Grand Hall of the GRDA Ecosystems and Education Center in Langley (420 East Highway 28). GRDA intends to take public comment from private dock permit holders at that time.  At 1PM, the focus will shift to comments from public/commercial dock permit holders during the second meeting.

“We think structuring the meetings this way will allow plenty of time for everyone to be heard. Obviously this is an important issue for GRDA and our lake stakeholders, so we want to give plenty of opportunity for comments,” said GRDA Assistant General Manager of Ecosystems and Lake Management Dr. Darrell Townsend.

“We recognize that the interests of commercial dock owners are distinct from private dock owners,” said GRDA Chief Executive Officer/Director of Investments Dan Sullivan. “By having two separate meetings, we will be able to discuss the unique interests of both groups. GRDA also recognizes that a ‘one size fits all’ model does not work when applying dock rules.”

GRDA wishes to solicit comments on this proposed change from all interested individuals and businesses. If you would like to submit written comments or have any questions, please contact Townsend at PO Box 70, Langley, OK 74350, or (918) 256-0616.

The proposed changes can be found online at by clicking on the “News” link and scrolling to the item with the “Notice of public meeting with proposed permit changes” heading.
