Floodwater release bulletin

Safety First Around DamsAt 10:30AM on Friday, May 24:

o Grand Lake elevation was 745.03 feet. Daily target elevation for May 24 is 743.60 feet.
o At the direction of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, two (2) floodgates were open at Pensacola Dam, discharging 817 cubic feet per second (cfs) of water.
o Six (6) units were online at the Pensacola Dam powerhouse, releasing 11,447 cfs of water through generation.
o Releases through floodgates and generation totaled 12,264 cfs.
o Inflows into Grand Lake totaled 7,641 cfs.

o Lake Hudson elevation was 620.92 feet. Normal elevation is 619 feet.
o No floodgates are open at Robert S. Kerr Dam.
o Three (3) units were online at Robert S. Kerr Dam powerhouse releasing 22,140 cfs of water through generation.
o Inflows into Lake Hudson totaled 13,076 cfs.

With the busy Memorial Day Weekend upon us, GRDA wants to take this opportunity to also pass along some important safety tips (attached as pdf or jpg) to keep in mind, when you are in the vicinity of GRDA’s hydroelectric facilities. Though other floodgate operations could occur over the weekend, please be mindful that signs, buoys, sirens, fencing and flashing lights are all intended to notify those in the area when floodgates are open, generators are operating or water is rising swiftly.
