Purpose of Position

  

This is an unclassified (exempt) position providing information, submitting reports, permit applications, registrations and certifications, routine review of the federal register and maintain working knowledge of applicable portions of Code of Federal Regulations and Oklahoma Administrative Code, and assist facilities as required maintain and demonstrate compliance with all applicable state and federal environmental regulations.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Reports directly to the Director of Ecosystems Management.

 

SUPERVISED PERSONNEL:  Normally does not supervise other positions unless assigned such duties. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain on-going review of the Federal Register, and rules as administered by the EPA, ODEQ, and OCC to be aware of environmental regulations applicable to GRDA.
  • Provide facility personnel with an understandable summary of applicable environmental regulations.
  • Gather and maintain a database of GRDA information required to be reported by various environmental regulations (e.g. CAA, CWA, and RCRA).
  • Perform duties of the Designated Representative as required by regulations promulgated pursuant to the Clean Air Act.
  • Develop and maintain communication and rapport with regulatory personnel and peers in the utility industry.
  • Collect pertinent information and make application for required environmental permits and licenses.

 

SPECIAL CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS, LICENSES REQUIRED:

  • Must have a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in enviornmental science or closely related field.
  • Education must be sufficient to allow employees to read, understand, summarize, and apply complex environmental regulations as published in the Federal Register, the Code of Federal Regulations, and the Oklahoma Administrative Code.
  • Experience required to enable employee to work with regulatory personnel, fellow GRDA personnel, and other utility environmental personnel, experience in basic laboratory procedures used to determine compliance.
  • Training in utility industry operations; reading of drawings; use of computer (internet, word processing, spreadsheets).

 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to walk, climb stairs, and sit for extended periods.  
  • Ability to lift, move, and carry weights of up to 50 lb. on an irregular basis.
  • Must possess mental, visual, and auditory acuity for attention to visual and auditory detail. 

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS & SAFETY CONCERNS:        

  • Work is performed at field locations and in an office environment.   
  • Emergency work may be performed outdoors and/or indoors in a high noise/high temperature environment with possible work in confined spaces. 

 

JOB LOCATION:

  • Work is performed at GRDA’s Ecosystems and Education Center in Langley, or at other business facilities as needed. 

Overnight travel may be required for meetings, training, and seminars
