Job: ASST. SUPT. – TRAINER

This is an unclassified (exempt) level position performing training duties for the System Operations Training Department of the Grand River Dam Authority in adherence to NERC and SPP standards to maintain a compliant training program for GRDA System Operators.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Reports directly to the Asst. Supt. of System Operations Training or designated supervisor.

SUPERVISED PERSONNEL:  This position will not supervise/train subordinate employees or serve as a lead worker.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Shall be responsible for complying with the NERC training standards.
• Design and deliver training based on NERC and Regional Reliability Organization standards, GRDA operating procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements to GRDA System Operators.
• Maintain training documentation using databases, electronic and paper files.
• Conduct job evaluations to determine gaps in System Operator skills and knowledge.
• Schedule internal and external training to address identified gaps in System Operator skills and knowledge.
• Setup and breakdown of training rooms for internal training courses.
• Perform Duties of Liaison during SPP and NERC training for system operators.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an electrical field from an accredited college or university and/or equivalent System Operations experience.
• Instructional design experience.   

SPECIAL CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS, LICENSES REQUIRED:

• Must have or the ability to obtain a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
• Must currently have a Balancing, Interchange & Transmission Operator or a Reliability Coordinator certification or have the ability to obtain.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• The ability to deliver training in front of large and small varied audiences.
• Functional competency with personal computers; prefer experience MS office suite of products. 
• Must possess and demonstrate excellent writing and composition skills.
• The knowledge of electrical generation, transmission and distribution practices, principles and theory, as well as fundamental energy marketing accounting practices.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• The ability to work flexible hours and be willing to travel as required.
• Must possess mental, visual, and auditory acuity for attention to visual and auditory detail. 
• Must be capable of performing job duties under stressful situations.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS & SAFETY CONCERNS:        

• Work is usually performed in an office environment with occasional outdoor fieldtrips for training and acquiring electrical system knowledge.

JOB LOCATION:

• Work is performed primarily at the Kerr Energy Control Center near Locust Grove, Oklahoma.
