Saint Francis Heart Hospital donates portable defibrillator to GRDA Lake Patrol
Tulsa Grand River Dam Authority Lake Patrolman Derrick Bidleman (right) accepts an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) from Saint Francis Heart Hospital’s Chief Executive Officer Robert Dolan and Education Team Leader Denise Reed. The hospital donated the AED (which costs approx. $2,200) to the GRDA Lake Patrol in late May. This is the patrol’s first AED.
AEDs are used to treat Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). According to Medtronic, manufacturer of the AED, 90-95 percent of SCA victims die because they did not have quick access to an AED. Making people aware of sudden cardiac arrest and improving access to Automated External Defibrillators will increase the survival rate for SCA victims.
GRDA Lake Patrol Headquarters is located on the west end of Pensacola Dam, in Langley. It is the central point of dispatch for the patrol which is responsible for the enforcement of GRDA lake regulations, and promotes water safety throughout the year. Contact the GRDA Lake Patrol at (918) 782-9594.
