Kevin A. Easley is the chief executive officer of the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA). An agency of the state of Oklahoma, GRDA is as conservation and reclamation district for the waters of the Grand River basin (including Grand Lake and Lake Hudson) and funds its operations with revenues from the sale of electricity. With an electric generation capacity of 1,400 megawattsrepresenting a beneficial mixture of thermal and hydroelectric generation assetsGRDA transmits electricity to customers via a sophisticated energy delivery system comprised of 1,200 miles of transmission line. Each day, a diverse and highly skilled workforce of 450 employees allows GRDA to fulfill its mission of service to Oklahoma.
For 14 years, Easley served the people of Senate District 18comprised of southern Mayes County, Wagoner County and a portion of Tulsa Countyas a member of the Oklahoma State Senate. Prior to that, he served six years in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. A graduate of the University of Tulsa, he earned degrees in accounting and business management before his election to the Oklahoma House at age 24.
During his tenure in the senate, Easley chaired both the Energy, Environment & Communications Committee and the Oklahoma Electric Utility Task Force. He also served as vice chair of the Senate Finance Committee and served on the Senate Appropriations, Aerospace & Technology, Business & Labor, and Rules committees. In addition to that service, he was selected to chair a special multi-state task force to create an interstate compact commission on transmission issues for Oklahoma and its neighbors.
While in the House he chaired the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Committee. After bringing his expertise to the Senate, he was soon included among the nation’s leading experts on energy related issues, being quoted in national media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, and authoring some of the most progressive oil and gas legislation in the country.
His service in the Oklahoma legislature earned him numerous awards and honors. The Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association, the Oklahoma Municipal League, and the Oklahoma Rural Water Association have all recognized him as Legislator of the Year, and he also received the Oklahoma Highway Safety Public Service Award; the County Commissioners Board of Directors Award, and the Oklahoma Restaurant Association Award for Outstanding Leadership.
Easley’s memberships include the Energy Council’s Executive Committee, the Advisory Board of the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, and the Board of the Goodwill Industries of Tulsa. He and his wife Dea Ann are the parents of three children and are active in the community and their church.
